Rick Fairless - Don Bittman - Lee Wimmer Inducted into IMBBA "Hall of Fame"
Sturgis, SD. - August 9th 2011 at the Broken Spoke Campground Saloon before crowds who mass to witness IMBBA's Hall of Fame ceremony. IMBBA Master Bike Builder Level II candidates who earned certification for their skills and knowledge of their trade. Earning 600 points, some taking 20+ years in the industry to do
so, were awarded IMBBA's "Lifetime Achievement Award" which is only awarded to those builders that meet or exceed in points earned through acts of charity, products invented or designed helping the industry to grow, being sponsors along with appearances with out holding their hands out in selfish means. 600 points is also required in charity and good will. By giving back as much as you took to get certified is what qualifies a builder for a life time achievement award and indoctrination into the IMBBA Hall of Fame.
Rick Fairless, of Strokers Dallas along with Don Bittman, and Lee Wimmer, of Wimmer Machine, were honored in Sturgis, before a stage lined with IMBBA members from Canada and USA.along with inductees families and friends.
Accepting for Lee Wimmer, was Harlan Schllinger, a Long time friend of Lee's and Hamster buddy. Accepting for Rick Fairless, was Stroker Dallas's general Manager Gene Slatter, both Inductees were unable to attend due to family emergencies.
Don Bittman, along with family and friends also honored. Afterwards, IMBBA hosted a catered dinner reception in their honor, followed by a Foghat concert where they had the best seats in the house.
"To honor these giants in our industry, however humble or outrageous, earning a true Lifetime Achievment of which IMBBA is honored to bestow upon those that have earned their place in our industry and history". said IMBBA President and Founder, Jeff Starke.
